JubileeTV Usage Modes
JubileeTV supports the following Usage Modes:
- Interactive Mode
- Passive Mode with Original Remote(s)
- Passive Mode with Simplified JubileeTV Remote (remote cover)
- Passive Mode with 6 Button Remote
Usage Mode is a Membership-wide setting, which means that the TV End User and all Contacts will have the active Usage Mode applied to their JubileeTV experience. Additionally, if you are using more than one Console in your Membership, the selected Usage Mode will apply to all Consoles.
How To Set Usage Mode
Usage Mode is set by the Primary Admin during setup. After setup, it can be changed by opening the Account Menu from the three dots (⋯) in the top right corner of the App and selecting Usage Modes.
Permissions
Below are the permission requirements to set the Usage Mode in JubileeTV based on User Role.
User Type | Permission |
|---|---|
Primary Admin | Yes |
Contact Admin | Yes |
Contact | No |
TV End User | No |
Interactive Mode
Interactive Mode enables the full suite of JubileeTV features for both the TV End User and their Contacts. This is the default mode when you sign up and activate your JubileeTV membership. It’s ideal for families whose TV End User uses the JubileeTV Remote and wants full access to all JubileeTV features.
Passive Modes
Passive Modes limit certain JubileeTV features to create a simpler experience for the TV End User. Each Passive Mode supports only a single source device and the JubileeTV interface will only appear if a Contact initiates an AutoConnect Video Call.
Passive Mode with Original Remote(s)
Ideal for families who want the TV End User to continue using the remote that is familiar to them.
In Passive Mode with Original Remotes, any source device can be configured.
Passive Mode with Simplified JubileeTV Remote (remote cover)
Best for families who want a more streamlined remote experience. A snap-on cover for the JubileeTV Remote hides unnecessary buttons, leaving only: Power, Volume +/-, Channel Up/Down, Mute, the blue “J” button, and Prev. Additionally, Favorites must be configured and the Channel Up/Down buttons only cycle through favorited channels.
In Passive Mode with Simplified JubileeTV Remote, the configured source device must be a cable/satellite set-top box.

Passive Mode with 6-Button Remote
Best for families who want the simplest remote option with large, easy-to-press buttons. The 6-Button Remote includes: Power, Volume +/-, Channel Up/Down, and Mute. Additionally, Favorites must be configured and the Channel Up/Down buttons only cycle through favorited channels.
In Passive Mode with 6-Button Remote, the configured source device must be a cable/satellite set-top box.
The 6-Button Remote is not included in your JubileeTV shipment—it must be purchased directly from our website here.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure you purchase your 6-Button Remote directly from JubileeTV. Even if you find an identical remote sold by another retailer, it will not be compatible with your system. We apply custom programming to every remote to ensure it works specifically with the JubileeTV Console.
See 6-Button Remoteas for more details about the remote itself.

JubileeTV Classic Expectations
Passive Mode with 6-Button Remote is the only Passive Mode available on JubileeTV Classic. While all previously mentioned details about Passive Mode with the 6-Button Remote still apply, there is one key difference: on JubileeTV Classic, the JubileeTV Remote’s built-in microphone is used for audio during video calls, even though the remote itself does not control the TV.
For optimal sound quality, place the remote within easy reach of the TV End User or position it on a nearby surface—such as a coffee table or side table—close to their usual seating area. We recommend testing a few calls to determine the placement that delivers the clearest audio.
