Roku IP Control is Failing
Overview
To unlock full Roku integration on your JubileeTV system—including advanced features like Favorites—the system must be set to control your Roku via IP (Internet Protocol).
Occasionally, JubileeTV and the Roku may fail to communicate over the network. If this happens, you will need to reconfigure your IP control settings based on one of the two scenarios below.

Scenario 1: Limited Control (IR Fallback)
- The Problem: You can still control the Roku using the JubileeTV remote or Telescope, but advanced features like FavoritesFavorites have stopped working.
- Why it happens: Some Roku models support both IP and IR (Infrared) control. If the network IP connection drops, JubileeTV automatically falls back to IR control so you don't lose basic functionality. You just need to re-establish the IP connection to get your features back.
Scenario 2: Complete Loss of Control (Network Disconnection)
- The Problem: The JubileeTV system won't control the Roku at all (both the physical remote and Telescope fail).
- Why it happens: The Roku has completely disconnected from your local Wi-Fi or network.
Note: To fix Scenario 2, you will likely need to be physically present. You must use the original Roku remote to reconnect the Roku to your Wi-Fi network before attempting the fix below.
On Roku models that have both IP and IR control, the JubileeTV system may fallback to IR control if there is a problem with IP control. In this case, the Roku can still be controlled through JubileeTV (using the JubileeTV remote or Telescope), but some features such as FavoritesFavorites will not work.
How to Fix and Reconfigure IP Control
Follow these steps on your JubileeTV system to restore IP control:
- Select Devices.
- Select the input Roku is configured to.
- Select Control Settings.
- Select Change Control Type.
- Select IP and follow the on-screen instructions.
