How to Calibrate Comfortable Volume for Telescope
You should calibrate comfortable volume level for telescope if:
- The JubileeTV App says that a comfortable TV volume level is not calibrated
- The JubileeTV Console settings (found under Devices > TV) says that comfortable TV volume level is not calibrated
- You feel the values being presented in Telescope are not representative of a real-world experience
When calibrating a comfortable volume level, we recommend that both you and the TV user be present in the room. Additionally, we recommend that you remove any background noise (including talking) that wouldn't normally be present when the TV user is watching TV.
A cheerful chime will be emitted from the TV speakers. You should make sure that the TV is not muted. Expect to increase or decrease the volume level using the JubileeTV remote while asking the TV user if the chime they are hearing is too loud, too soft, etc.
- Access the JubileeTV Console settings
- You can do this by:
- Saying "settings" while pressing and holding on the orange microphone button on the JubileeTV remote
- Pressing the GUIDE buttons three times and then immediately pressing the blue J button
- Select Devices
- Select the HDMI Out option (which will most likely be the brand of the TV)
- Select Calibrate Comfortable Volume
- Follow the on-screen prompts
Why can't I just see the TV volume level that the TV shows? Great question! JubileeTV is unable to visualize this in Telescope. As an app user, what you are seeing in Telescope is what the JubileeTV Console is outputting to the TV. The volume level indicator that is seen on the TV is "downstream" of the JubileeTV Console, meaning it can be shown to the TV User but not in Telescope.
Does the comfortable volume level only detect noise from the TV itself? It does not. The comfortable volume level indicator in Telescope will adjust based on any noise that is detected by the JubileeTV Console.
