Usage Mode
JubileeTV supports two usage modes: All Features Mode and Passive Mode.
Usage Mode is an membership-wide setting, which means that the TV End User and all Contacts will have the active Usage Mode applied to their JubileeTV experience. Additionally, if you are using more than one Console in your membership, the selected Usage Mode will apply to both Consoles.
To set the Usage Mode for JubileeTV, navigate to the account menu in the JubileeTV app. To access the account menu,
- On web: click on your profile picture or the human icon (if you don't have a profile picture) in the top right corner
- On mobile: click on the three dots in the top right corner
Below are the permission requirements to set the Usage Mode in JubileeTV based on JubileeTV user types.
User Type | Permission |
---|---|
TV End User | No |
Primary Admin | Yes |
Contact Admin | Yes |
Contact | Yes |
All Features mode allows for the full suite of JubileeTV features to be used by both the TV End User and Contacts. This is the default Usage Mode when you sign up and activate your JubileeTV membership.
All Features mode is best for families where the TV End User uses the JubileeTV remote and want access to all of the JubileeTV features.
Passive Mode restricts specific parts of JubileeTV with the goal of making it easy for the TV End User to maintain their current interaction with their TV and their TV watching.
Passive mode is best for families where the TV End User wants to continue using the remote that is familiar to them.
The JubileeTV remote cannot be used to control the TV or source devices in Passive Mode. While in Passive Mode, the only time the TV End User sees the JubileeTV interface is if a Contact initiates an AutoConnect Video Call.
Passive Mode can only be used with 1 source device per Console.
The following features are fully functional in Passive Mode:
- Telescope
- App users with permission can continue controlling the TV from the app.
- Activity Feed
- Users continue having access to the Activity Feed, but remote button presses are not captured.
- AutoConnect Video Calling
- Please note that the microphone in the Console is used for AutoConnect Video Calling
The following features have limited functionality in Passive Mode:
- TV Favorites
- Contacts can set TV Favorites so specific channels/apps are easy to access while using Telescope.
- Favorites are hidden from the TV End User.
- Contacts
- The Primary Admin and Contact Admins can manage Contacts. The Contacts tile is hidden from the TV End User.
The following features are not available in Passive Mode:
- Regular Video Calling
- Chat (messaging)
- Video mail
- Photo and video sharing
- Daily Check-In
- Stay in Touch
- Reminders
- Slideshow

- AutoConnect Video Calling
- Please note that the microphone in the JubileeTV remote is still used for AutoConnect Video Calling. We recommend either placing it in a location where the TV End User can pick it up during calls, or securing it a place (such as a coffee table or side table) near the location where the TV End User sits while watching TV. For best results, try a few calls to find a location to place the remote where you get the best audio quality.
