Activity Feed
Overview
The Activity Feed provides insight into a TV End User’s daily patterns. By monitoring TV usage and room presence, it helps you stay connected and informed about a loved one’s wellbeing without being intrusive.
What the Activity Feed Tracks
- TV Power State: Logs when the TV is turned on, off, or if a connection error occurs.
- Remote Usage: Logs when a button is pressed on the JubileeTV remote.
- Presence Detection: Logs when the number of people in the room changes.
- Activity Levels: When one person is detected, the system logs transitions between Active (moving) and Stationary (resting) states.

How Detection Works
Below are the actual mechanisms through which Activity Feed events are captured.
TV Power State
JubileeTV monitors TV power state through the included Smart Plug, which is calibrated to your TV's specific power draw. In some setups, the system also uses HDMI-CEC to determine TV power state.
JubileeTV Button Presses
Remote button presses on the JubileeTV voice remote are tracked and tallied per minute.
Note: The Activity Feed only tracks button presses on the JubileeTV voice remote. If you are using a Passive Mode that relies on original device remotes or the 6-Button Remote, button presses are not tracked. Fore more on Passive Modes, see JubileeTV Usage Modesas.
Presence & Activity (JubileeTV Vision)
The system uses the camera on the Console to sense movement.
- Optimal Range: Accuracy is highest when the user is 5–15 feet directly in front of the Console.
- Console Camera Cover: Presence detection requires the camera cover to be open. If the physical privacy cover is closed, the system will not detect presence or update the Activity Feed regarding room activity.
- Presence Detection: The system does not identify specific individuals (such as the TV End User). It only detects the total number of people present in the camera’s field of vision.
- Hardware Compatibility: Presence and Activity detection are available only on the current JubileeTV Console (top-of-TV mount). If you have a Classic Console (purchased prior to August 2024), presence and activity detection are not supported.
Configuring the Feed
The Activity Feed begins in a basic state and is not fully optimized until an Admin completes the one-time Activity Feed Setup Wizard. To begin, the Primary Admin or a Contact Admin simply taps the Activity Feed card on the App home screen.
During this setup wizard, you will configure your initial settings to tailor the system to your family's needs. All of these preferences can be adjusted at any time, as outlined in the Activity Feed Settings section below.
Activity Feed Settings
Settings fall into two main categories: Global (system-wide changes that impact all users) and Personal (individual changes that only affect your own App experience).
JubileeTV Vision (Global)
JubileeTV Vision utilizes the camera on the Console to sense room presence and activity levels. If enabled, presence and activity levels will be reported and visible to the Primary Admin and all Contact Admins. If disabled, presence and activity levels will not be reported to anyone.
How to adjust:
- Select the Activity Feed card on the home screen.
- Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner.
- Select JubileeTV Vision from the menu to open the JubileeTV Vision screen.
- From here, toggle JubileeTV Vision on or off.
General Settings (Global)
These settings dictate what media and events the Activity Feed automatically captures for the Primary Admin and Contact Admins.
- TV On/Off Photos: Automatically captures an image whenever the TV is turned on or off.
- Presence Photos: Captures an image when the number of people in the room changes (e.g., someone enters an empty room) or when a single person shifts between active and stationary states. To help you easily identify what triggered the event, JubileeTV places a green rectangular outline around each person detected in the photo.
- Detect sneezes and coughs: Records a text-based event in the feed (no image captured) whenever a sneeze or cough is detected.
How to adjust:
- Select the Activity Feed card on the home screen.
- Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner.
- Select Photo & Notification Settings.
- Make your adjustments under the Settings tab.
Personal Settings (Individual)
These settings only apply to your specific user profile.
- Daily Summary Email: Opt-in to receive a convenient summary of the previous day's events delivered directly to your inbox.
How to adjust:
- Select the Activity Feed card on the home screen.
- Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner.
- Select Photo & Notification Settings.
- Make your adjustments under the Settings tab.
Notifications (Individual)
Notification preferences determine what events trigger an alert on your personal device.
- TV is turned on: Get notified every time the TV turns on, or only the first time each day.
- Someone enters the room: Get notified every time someone enters, or only the first time each day. (Alerts are only sent when the count changes from 0 to 1, or 1 to 2. Once more than 2 people are detected, notifications stop for further increases).
- TV is turned off: Get notified every time the TV is turned off.
- The last person leaves the room: Get notified every time the room becomes empty.
How to adjust:
- Select the Activity Feed card on the home screen.
- Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner.
- Select Photo & Notification Settings.
- Make your adjustments under the Notifications tab.
Photo Retention & Deletion
If TV On/Off Photos and/or Presence Photos are enabled, you have full control over the stored images.
Automatic Retention
- 30-Day Storage: All photos in the Activity Feed are automatically saved for 30 days before being permanently deleted.
- Lifetime Text Records: While photos expire after 30 days, the text-only record of those events remains in your Activity Feed for as long as your JubileeTV Membership is active.
Manually Deletion
You can manually delete photos from the Activity Feed at any time:
- Delete a Single Photo: Tap the desired image in the Activity Feed, then tap the Trash Can icon in the bottom right corner.
- Delete All Photos: Tap any image in the Activity Feed, then select the Delete All Activity Feed Photos button to clear all images at once.
Download Photo
You have the option to download photos from the Activity Feed. Simply select a photo from the Hourly View and tap Download Photo.
Where do photos get saved?
- On iPhone: Apple's native iPhone menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. You can select where you want the photo sent or saved.
- Android: asdf
False Presence Detections
Occasionally, the Activity Feed algorithm may mistakenly identify inanimate objects or movements—such as a portrait on the wall, a window reflection, or a shifting shadow—as a person.
If Presence Photos is enabled within your Activity Feed settings, you can review the captured images to identify false detections and take one or both of the following actions:
1. Report a false detection
If you notice an event trigger that does not match what is actually happening in the photo, you can report it directly to JubileeTV. Our technology team uses these reports to continuously train, refine, and improve the accuracy of the Activity Feed algorithm for everyone.
Learn more: How to report Activity Feed false detectionsa.
2. Set up an Ignore Zone
If a specific area in the room (like a window or a wall with framed photos) consistently triggers the system to report someone is present when no one is there, you can set up an Ignore Zone. This tells the camera to completely bypass that specific spot when scanning for presence.
